Anniversary Weekend

Once again I have gotten behind on blogs. Are you really surprised???

Friday, July 24th, was our fifth wedding anniversary! I can't believe it has been 5 years already. Time flies when your busy. Dallas' parents offered to keep the kids for the weekend so we could do something. Wednesday we decided we would head to down town Fort Worth on Friday night. Dallas suggested we get a room down town so we did not have to drive or deal with parking. I made reservations and started getting things ready to pack.

We both took off on Friday and started our weekend a little early. I decided that it would be best to take the kids toddler beds to Linda and Micheal's house for the weekend. Since they would be staying two nights and need their rest. The beds are tiny and not heavy at all. I packed everything Friday morning after we dropped the kids off at daycare. Dallas took care of some work stuff and we headed over to drop everything off around 11 am. We arrived and started unloading. It looked like we were moving in permanently. Ha! We had everything in except the beds when the bottom dropped out of the sky. Literally it started pouring! We grabbed the mattresses and frames and ran!

We set everything up for the kids and were on our way back home. When we got back home we packed our stuff for the hotel. We arrived at the Renaissance Worthington hotel at 3 pm and checked in our beautiful room. The hotel is the second nicest hotel down town and it was amazing. After setting up our stuff in the room we headed to the pool and spa. It was not crowded and the water felt great. We spent about an hour swimming and soaking then headed back to the room. It was almost time to go get the kids from daycare.

Our room and the beautiful view. We were in the middle of the hotel on the top floor.

I wanted the windows open the entire time!

We picked up the kids and the things we had forgotten at home and headed to Linda and Micheal's house. Surprisingly we did not hit any traffic and arrived in time for dinner. The kids went crazy exploring their new environment. They recently moved into a new apartment for a few months while they continue looking for the perfect house. Since most of their stuff is sitting in storage currently the kids have ample room to play. We went in the living room first where they immediately discovered their tea set, food and dishes that Linda had set out for them. It was an instant tea party.

After the tea party ended we took them to see their very own room away from home. Ethan ran straight to his bed and jumped in it. Paige went for the toys on top of the night stand.

Then we pointed out her bed and she ran and jumped in.

They were so excited to see their beds at Nana and Grand Daddy's house!

Woo Hoo! Paige found her babies too. Once we looked over the new surroundings, it was time to get dinner done. The kids continued to play while I finished dinner. Linda was going to be at work until 11 pm that night and then off for the rest of the weekend. We stayed with Michael until the kids went to bed. I knew they would be wild in the new place and did not want to throw him to the wolves. Ha!

Dinner time. One thing I did not have to bring... the table. :)

After dinner we took a walk around outside and before long it was time for bed. We dressed them in their pajamas and put them to bed. All three of us stood by the monitor wondering how this was going to go. They are not used to sharing a room and it usually turns into a slumber party. We did not hear a peep. After waiting a good 10-15 minutes, I decided we were good to go.

The view was even better at night from our room.

We had plenty of time to hang around the hotel before heading out for the evening. It was wonderful to just sit and have some down time. We headed out around 9:30 pm to find something to eat. I did not want to spend a lot of money on dinner so we ended up going to Jake's. It is a hamburger joint down town and it was wonderful. We finished our food and headed back out on the town. We walked around a bit looking at our options and I stopped as soon as I saw Pete's Dueling Piano Bar. I have always heard such great things about the establishment but have never had the chance to go there.

We headed upstairs and were surprised it was only a $6 cover charge. I had always heard this place was expensive thus why we had never went. We got lucky and found a table right up front. We stayed here all night and had the best time! I really enjoyed the crowd interaction and singing all my favorite songs. We will definitely be back!

They pulled everyone having a special occasion up front.

This girl played a very impressive electric fiddle!

I can not put into words how much fun we had at Pete's Piano Bar!

Back at Nana and Grand Daddy's place...
The toddler beds were a huge success. The kids slept all night and napped wonderfully the entire weekend. Saturday morning they hit the road running and were ready to go. After breakfast they headed outside to ride their power wheels before it got too hot.

It is hard to keep the kids from running up in people's yards and such at home so they don't get to ride these often. Honestly I hate chasing them down too.

What's in the hole? There goes Paige flying by.

Of course Ethan had to get out and inspect the damage his sister did to his ride when she rear ended him. HA!

Then the kids went for a walk around the grounds.

They love being outside!

Back at the apartment, Paige was busy coloring as usual while Ethan found something else to get into...

Grand Daddy covered the little table with a blanket and suddenly the boys had a fort.

Even the dog wanted to play. Ethan's feet are right next to Toby. Ha!

They had such fun under the table. I love this one. All you can see is Toby's tail and Ethan's feet!

Don't you even think about it little boy... the things kids get away with away from home. :)

PRICELESS! Look at that smile!

Yes Paige was still coloring. Ethan was coloring the plant apparently.

What a pretty flower... Grand Daddy's games are always the best.

Are we getting nausious? Spinning in a chair is more fun when you little. You get sick when you get older and spin on anything.

Then it was off to the pool after nap time. Speaking of nap time. I was taking a FIVE hour nap on the couch at home during this time on Saturday. Beautiful!!!

The kids were jumping from brick to brick. They did this forever and really enjoyed it.

I laughed so hard when I saw this picture of Ethan. He looked like he was preparing for a long water journey in all that gear. Ha, Ha!

Ready to go swimming.

Of course after swimming they had to run crazy cause they still had energy. Paige literally kept saying, "Okay, lets run!"

Sunday they decided to let the kids paint. A setting on the camera was wrong so a lot of the pictures were blurry but they are still cute. I love that Linda put the kids in some of her scrub tops. Too stinking cute!

I think Ethan might need glasses. :)

Shockingly they did not get paint anywhere! I think the large square coffee table was just perfect for letting the imagination run wild.

These are just a few pictures of right before we came to pick the kids up that Sunday evening.

She is so precious!

Its Goofy! Yeah!

Let's make a bigger mess.

Look our house doesn't have any of these door stoppers left.

We can't thank Nana and Grand Daddy enough for taking the kids for our Anniversary!!! We had such a good relaxing time and the kids had a blast with their grandparents!
