Six Flags

Saturday, August 8th we went to Six Flags with my old friend, Lisa and our God son, Tre. They arrived at our house on Friday evening. She had not seen the kids since they were tiny. The kids were a little stand offish for a while but soon warmed up. We visited Friday night and headed to Six Flags Saturday morning to try and beat the crowds and the heat. We have not been to Six Flags in probably 5 years! We used to have season passes every year but since my back problems were so bad we quit going. Lisa was bringing Tre for his last summer outing before school started. I was excited and nervous all at the same time. I used to love the rides but I have gotten older and lets just say it wider. Ha! I was very interested to see how I would fare on this long day.

We arrived a little later than planned but were still in the park before 11am. Lisa insisted we all purchase the flash pass for the day. I had never heard of that before. You pay an additional fee and get a portable device that allows you to save your place in line while you are not there. You enter the ride you want and it tells you when to show up to ride it. You show up and get right on the ride. I have never seen such dirty looks as we received a few times that day. Many people did not even know about the pass and were understandably pissed off when we walked right in front of them after they had been waiting for hours. Safe to say it was well worth the money!

Tre had brought a friend to ride all the rides with him and the kids wanted to get wet first thing. Crap! We are going to be wet and soggy all day. So we headed to the bridge water ride and got soaked. Then it was off to the new Tony Hawk ride. Some of our group wanted to ride everything and others did not. The little girl Tre had brought with him was scared to death. It was her first time at Six Flags and she did not think the rides would be that big. Poor thing. We took turns sitting out with her on a lot of the rides. Funny thing is she liked the Titan. The biggest roller coaster there!

We stayed until about 6:30pm which was very impressive in my opinion. The most astounding thing by far was the fact that we only spent $14.00 inside the park the entire day. We purchased one large orange cup that was $12.99 plus tax. You got a wrist band with the purchase that allowed you to refill it for free all day long. And refill we did! We may have wasted a lot of time refilling that drink but since we had the flash pass it did not really matter. We also brought lunch and walked back to the car to eat. I was so impressed that we did not spend any more money all day. Quite a feat in an amusement park!

I could have left a lot sooner than we did but the kids wanted to keep riding rides. Lisa wanted to follow us home so she did not get lost so we ended up staying until they were done. I could barely walk at this point and knew I was going to regret this day. My feet had been wet all day long in socks and tennis shoes. I could feel the blisters all around them. My back was hurting and I knew I was officially too old for this kind of adventure! Once we got home the kids were already in bed and Linda and Michael were ready to head home themselves. We took off our shoes and relaxed. My feet looked like I had been in a bath tub all day long. I really did have an awesome time riding all the roller coasters but I fear that was my last visit to Six Flags. I have had back and neck pain every since that day. I feel like I did four or five years ago when I was having to get ESI injections in my spine. I hope and pray that the pain will go away eventually. I hope I did not screw myself up for another five years for one dang day of rides.

While the parents are away the children will play...

They love feeling like big kids and there goes the hands in the cup.

Grand Daddy is fun from straws to colors.

Time for playdoh...

Look what I did! Ethan loves pushing playdoh through the little tools.

Push hard Paigey. Ethan gets very excited with Playdoh.

Only Grand Daddy would think of making mask out of the playdoh.

or a hat! Time to settle down and read a book or two.

Paige is in love with her sunglasses. I have to hide them.

Maybe a few more books. Nana was in on all the fun as well but someone has to take the pictures. Right! :)
