Swimming at Nana & Granddaddy's house

July 4th weekend I had only planned two things to do because I wanted to rest. Besides the parade we were scheduled to go swimming at Julie's house on Saturday afternoon. We have played many times in the small pools at home and at Melissa's house. We have even been swimming in nasty lake water. I still can't believe I went along with that one. We have tried several times to get the kids to a "real" pool this year but it just hadn't happened yet. I was really looking forward to our day in the pool when I received a call from Julie. Derek, her son, woke up with a high fever and a sore throat. We had to cancel our swimming date at Julies. :(

I was damned and determined that we were going swimming. It was so hot! We finally decided to call D's parents and ask if we could go swimming over there. Their apartments have probably 5 different pools. Why have we only been swimming once in the past 4 years over there? Who knows. So we called and the plans were set. This would be the kids first trip to their Nana and Granddaddy's house. We packed up everything and headed out once the kids woke up from their nap and ate their lunch. They live in Las Colinas which is about a 30 min. drive. When we arrived they were waiting downstairs and we headed off to the pool.

We pushed the kids around in the stroller while we scooped out which pool we wanted to swim in. We decided on the furthest pool from us because it had the least amount of people and it had really cool fountains. We got the kids covered in sunscreen and we were in the pool. We had such a great time swimming! Even Nana got in the water with us, yeah for Nana.

After we decided we had been in the pool long enough we packed up and headed back. We needed to give the kids a drink and their sippy cups were out of water. Granddaddy and Nana headed over to the coke machine to get a bottle of water. No water. I thought out of the choices we would try Sprite. Let me tell you a little secret, Sprite+ sippy cup+ pressure applied when closing sippy cup= Sprite Cannon!!! Ethan did not look thrilled when he went to take and drink and got shot in the face with Sprite. We opened the cups and tried to let the pressure out but regardless the Sprite still shot out everywhere. It was great for a good laugh.

We walked back to the car and decided to play in the pool there for a while. They had a fountain that ran into the pool which Granddaddy thought would be great fun. I was of course hesitant but I went along with it. They loved the fountain! They could walk freely since it was only about a foot deep and 2 feet wide. Water was over flowing from the top and the kids could stand under and feel the water. They were thrilled. Then we had to try out the top of the fountain. It was lined with tile so D and I had to climb up with them. They loved that even more. The water was shooting up and they were in heaven. Ethan cried when we took him down.

We all had wrinkled fingers and decided water time was over. We walked back up to the apartment, changed into dry clothes, and had snack. The kids did very well not totally destroying the apartment. They only have one high chair so I opted for Paige to sit in it cause she is more of a wild eater. Ethan sat at a little table in a big boy chair. Dallas, Mr. Paranoid, had to put a towel under him to make sure he didn't make a mess. He didn't drop a bite. After snack we hung out for a while and headed back home. We really had a great time!
